Who’s molding you?

Often times when we are looking for answers regarding where we are in life, love, relationship we have to ask ourselves who/what are we being molded by. In John Chapter 9 Jesus used clay to bring sight to a man blind, a man who was blind since birth. He was a man that everyone felt would never be anything more than and a transient depended on others for support, I’m sure that even he himself became accustom to others assistance he would have never imagined being able to see again. That is until he opened his mind and heart to Jesus. How true is that for a lot of us? Those of us who God does not require anything super-natural or over-exerting all he wants is for us to open our hearts. Was the blind man a genius? I don’t know … My guest is that he wasn’t the smartest guy around but he was smart enough to hear from Jesus and to obey what he asked of him. I’m reminded while reading this of the zeal my Pastor exhibited when he read some years ago from this passage verse 25 when the Pharisees inquired how can you see.. Blind man’s response was "I don’t know.. All I know is that I was blind and Now I see"…. How much easier could our walk with Christ be if we took a simple approach to serving him and relied on something as simple as I don’t know why I have the resources I have, all I know is that I was blind and now I see…. I don’t know how I was blessed with such a great spouse and children… All I know is that I was blind and now I see….. I don’t know how my life works out so well… All I know is that I was blind and now I see…. Even as I type this I get so emotional because I know where I came from … and I have so much to thank God for… Do I know how I got here… No…. All I know is that I was blind and now I see….

Let’s take a closer look at clay in the natural sense of the word.. We all know that there are two types of clays, primary and secondary. Primary clay is found in the same place as the rock from which it is derived-it has not been transported by water or glacier and thus has not mixed with other forms of sediment. Primary clay is heavy, dense, and pure. Much like us during out initial salvation with Christ… We come with heavy hearts.. pure intentions… and have been a dense for most of our lives. Secondary or sedimentary clay is formed when primary is mixed with other forms of sediment causing it to be lighter and carried farther in water to be simply deposited. Wow! How simple is the world and how awesome are these small natural occurrences that it gives us so many of the answers we are in search of to explain our own lives. It’s clear that our goal is to be that sedimentary clay to be used and mix well with others to be carried father and deposited where we are needed. So I want you to think about who/what is molding you… who/what is moving you … who/what are you mixing with… and where are you being deposited…
